The grapefruit originates from the Barbados Islands but is cultivated worldwide. Pink grapefruit is a relatively recent variety, developed to produce a fruit with a more pleasant and less bitter taste compared to the yellow variety. The fruits are smaller than the yellow ones and result from a cross with the orange tree.
